Sharing Rules - Top

I hear I must only upload torrents of compromised state?

The Conspiracy Hub wants to promote the purchase of sold productions, so we enforce the rule that content must be of less quality or missing parts, compared to a complete version. We also require that links to where one purchases an item, be included. Public domain content can be freely referenced. In regards to this stipulation, it is out of The Conspiracy Hub's ability to investigate all references without sponsoring to scrutinise.

Including Tracker Announce Urls

We encourage torrent shared all over the internet. Our message is to get out, not become exclusive so we recommend that you use an international announce-url for torrents you want to share else where. Our tracker should be included as a backup only, not the main tracker.

Known Faults

  • Donation Page and features, not complete or active. This isn't much a problem as we are non-profit and haven't yet run up any large bills.
  • Manual-scrape may time-out with torrent with problematic trackers. A database error maybe returned, other words no error handling.
  • RSS feeds broken or aren't displaying a proper list of searched torrents.
(Please report any problems to an Admin or Moderator.)

In The Works

  • Make tutorial on how to share content best, and how to use mail-system.
  • 'Media Package Distribution feature'. Members able to upload packages for easy duplication and printing of covers to mail drop, or other distribution receipt.
  • Renovate sections for, membership creation and share requests.

How Do I Logout

In the Menu menu, the option to logout is located there. Click here to Logout, otherwise.

Searching For Torrents

Conspiracy Hub allows quoted search ability, much like Google. In a search you can either type each keyword to be discovered, or place each in a quoted-string. A quoted-string will match exactly the sentence or a word using what's contained within the quotes.

Placing a negative/hyphen character in front of a keyword or quoted string will invalidate the record if it contains that item. A hash character at the front of a search word, will discover records from the tags-database. This is not needed if typed in the tag search field. You can negate tags by putting the hyphen character ('-') at the front of the tag-word.

A combination of criteria works. For example the below scenario will find all records with 'illuminati' in their keybase, or a tag with "jones", but drop all records with "alex" in their keybase.

How Do I Get These Torrent Shared Things?

The Conspiracy Hub only shares references to full files. A reference literally means in this case a small file used to obtain a bigger remote file, shared by people around the World. A 'Torrent' is the popular name given to these small reference 'kickstart' files. A utility program called a bittorent-client is required to process the kickstarts.

To get yourself a torrent client, we suggest you try uTorrent from http://www.utorrent.com/. uTorrent works both on Windows as a de-facto, and Apple+Linux, under Wine Windows api-emulation.

An alternative recommended client is Azureus, also known as Vuze. Obtained here,http://www.azureus.com/. Vuze is based on Java so it should work on many platforms. It does take more advance options to be set to gain proper control over the client. Azureus has one of the best torrent creation features, allowing you to add DHT-mode which shares content without looking at a specific website to gain new links, and then there is Shareaza Magnet keys feature which takes the share level to other protocols called Gnutella2 and eDonkey networks.

How Do I Remove A Torrent Reference File?

If you are the owner then you should see a icon near the download icon, 'Delete Button', that will process a deletion when pressed. Then you should be able to upload a replacement file if that was your intention. You may like to copy your original contents first before deleting, by editing, copying, then deleting the torrent.
In the torrent profile, press 'Delete Button' to delete.

Sharing Your Own Torrent

Torrent clients usually have a utility to make torrents. Simply direct the tool to make the torrent of the appropriate files, checking you don't include files that are system related, like hidden files, or those you don't want included. Placing multiple files into a file-folder is the way to go, especially if they are from a kit or of similar subject or author. Then create the torrent on that folder. Pick a single file if you want just that

Name your files clearly, avoiding special characters!

To share your torrent only for Conspiracy Hub downloaders, you need to add our announce address, which is "http://conspiracyhub.com/announce.php".

Add other tracker-announce addresses if you wish to share at other sites, example, adding "http://tracker.publicbt.com:80/announce" will allow you to share your torrent at most torrent list sites. You can have multiple announce addresses which is known as backups. Conspiracy Hub's should be a backup, not the main announce-url, when using multiple addresses.

If your are using uTorrent then read this! Each tracker in your tracker-list for the torrent you create, must contain a blank line between each tracker in the list! If you do not do this then only the top tracker will be used by most torrent-clients.

Good Sharing Practices

  • Don't include web links as some torrent websites refuse to accept torrents which contain them, leaving you to recreate the whole metafile/kickstart
  • Name your file smartly, removing special characters, and format without spaces to save name length
  • Include other tracker announce url's, making sure they are active
  • Use Conspiracy Hub's announce as a backup where possible, unless you want to only share here

My Torrnet Reports Zero Peers

Either your torrent is faulty, the trackers are blocked or restrictive, or no people are sharing the contents related to the torrent. Noting, our tracker updates statistics every half and hour, timed from the last update for external torrents, and every (15) minutes for local torrents. You can manually update statistics, but the torrent must be of an external type, or if you have special privileges like being the owner of the torrent. Manual updated torrents may skip the next automatic update process since they are considered current!
In the torrent profile, press 'Scrape Button' to update manually.

ThePirateBay.org tracker, one of the biggest in the World at the time of writing this, has blocked the scrape process that obtains peer counts. This has caused major issues with torrents failing which results in server time-outs on that tracker. Due to this we have coded our website scripts to get around this issue but some torrents only contain all broken trackers, so these torrent metafiles/kickstarts will not be compatible with our server, and will fail a manual-scrape. Torrents that include our site's tracker will be put into backup mode if they have no external peer sources working. This means they will be specially managed locally if all external references are broken.

Action Point System - Top

Why Don't We Use A Ratio-System?

A ratio-system is one where upload and download bandwidth is monitored. Restrictions are then placed on accounts that have abused or refused to keep a reasonable balance with data use. The problem with that punishing scenario is that the way torrent protocol and clients work, the system is fundamentally flawed. People can cheat easily breaking the accounting process. The reason being, bookkeeping can only be done with torrents that contain the announce-tracker of the site doing the monitoring. Any interruptions breaks the counting. A ratio-system also helps to promotes torrent site that are closed-shop, member clubs.

Since Conspiracy Hub is an open tracker the system we use to get people to give back to others, which is needed, is one by issuing rewards to those that are active, like adding share and text content. This allows us to totally free torrents up with no restrictions to downloaders once they start a torrent. No need to cheat. No passkeys.

What are Action Points

Action-points are a participation measure. Each significant action gains or reduces score. When you have at zero to negative score, some features maybe unavailable or limited. To gain action-points, simply add content for others. Become active.

See Your User Menu help buttons for current reward and loss table.

Cheating A Ratio-System, How Is That?

Most aren't aware that by simply removing the trackers used for bookkeeping in a torrent in your torrent-client, once it has gained peers, can continue to download without any loss to ratio. The bookkeeping simply can't be done as there are no messages being sent back to the tracker to do the bookkeeping.

There also are methods to fool the announce process by making it consider you have uploaded large chucks of data, but downloaded little to none. Raising one's upload ratio, and looking like a fantastic member of that closed club based torrent site.

An Action Point system is the best of both worlds. We can reward good ratio builders without cheating, and also reward those at the website for activities.

My Action Points Were -10, Now They're Zero?

All member actions points are adjusted to zero points if their scores are below zero. This AP clearing is done for members who have not visited the site for over 24 hours. The reason why we do this is to not condemn anyone that has overdone their points, allowing one torrent or print-media to be download each 24 hours without site participation.
